Stay In The Moment

Day 127 August 30, 2014

Shout your praises to GOD, everybody! Let loose and sing! Strike up the band! Round up an orchestra to play for GOD, Add on a hundred-voice choir. Feature trumpets and big trombones, Fill the air with praises to King GOD. Let the sea and its fish give a round of applause, With everything living on earth joining in. Let ocean breakers call out, “Encore!” And mountains harmonize the finale— A tribute to GOD when he comes, When he comes to set the earth right. He’ll straighten out the whole world, He’ll put the world right, and everyone in it. (Psalm 98:9-4 MSG)

There is no place on earth that I'd rather be than sitting at the beach. This morning is beautiful. If only you could see what I'm looking at in this moment as I sit on my balcony just above the pool looking out at the ocean. The sun is slowly making its way up from behind the clouds, the waves are, as usual, rhythmically crashing onto the beach, the birds are singing and the tops of the palm trees are swaying softly in the ocean breeze. Not only is nature revealing Gods majestic handiwork this morning but Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" is playing on the sound system by the pool.

I see trees of green, red roses too

I see them bloom for me and you

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white

The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky

Are also on the faces of people going by

I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do

They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow

They'll learn much more than I'll never know

And I think to myself what a wonderful world

Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I love this time of day, It’s early morning and it’s just me, my thoughts, God and nature. Moments like these make the tumultuous times in life pale in comparison to all that is good in the world. In a society that moves at warp speed it's up to each of us to decelerate and give our Creator time to address our hurts as well as point us to the gift of this world that He so beautifully created. If we simply give Him time He is able to heal the hurts of our humanity and highlight the beauty of His creation. During times like these we can momentarily ignore our pain by soaking in the majesty of His handiwork. Trust me if we don't stop to meditate on the goodness of God our sanity can only last for a short period of time before we collapse.

My trip to Cabo always acts as a soul detox, that’s what’s happening on this beautiful tropical morning in Mexico. The impurities of my thinking are dispelled by the purity of all that is beautiful in the world.

So, my very dear friends, don’t get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures. (James 1:18-16 MSG)

The world was doing just fine before I arrived and it will continue to do so when I’m gone so why exert any energy worrying.  I'm thankful for the opportunities that I've had to experience this wonderful gift of life. Today is all that I have and I’m going to make the most of it. I shall stay in the moment.
